Developing knowledge and tools for effective collaborative engagement and practice

There is an ever-growing body of knowledge on what helps collaboration to succeed. Effective Cross-Sector Collaboration: What Does the Research Tell Us? by Nextpoint collaborators Wanda Jamieson, Dianne Kinnon and Amy Jones presents 15 factors in success drawn from the research literature. The report summarizes the research and includes knowledge from the non-profit management, business and public administration fields.
Lessons from the Field: Successful Collaborative Practice for the Prevention of Family Violence highlights lessons learned from seven Canadian family violence collaboratives on their key values/principles, essential processes and problem-solving approaches. The study was completed by Dianne Kinnon and Wanda Jamieson (with funding support from the Public Health Agency of Canada) and reveals nine elements that contribute to successful collaboration. Brief case studies on the collaborative groups are included.
